Level goals differ throughout game, initially you will collect 10 dollar symbols to open the gates and proceed to the next level, but in later stages you will race to escape, and dodge dangerous obstacles to escape the compound. Every 5 rounds you will visit the shop where you can repair your vehicle, buy nitros and shields. If you die in the game you can continue from where you left off by clicking the "continue" button on the score page. The aim of the game is to complete all the levels.

The Super Monkey Ball series moves from puzzler to platformer with Sega and Traveler’s Tales Super Monkey Ball Adventure for the PS2. While the monkeys are still zany and fun and puzzles are still in abundance, the game adds new features and abilities while tying the whole thing together with a fun, interesting story.
